Vietnamese Peanut Sauce (with Hoisin Sauce)
A quick and easy three ingredient peanut sauce recipe made with tangy and sweet hoisin sauce.

I love having a creamy and delicious peanut sauce prepared in the fridge to dress up salads, appetizers, or main dishes! This recipe is so simple and is only three ingredients.
What is a Vietnamese peanut sauce?
A Vietnamese peanut sauce is a common dipping sauce served at Vietnamese restaurants to pair with fresh spring rolls or grilled meat skewers such as chicken satay. Save the sauce in the fridge and use it to drizzle on top of noodle bowls or use as a dressing for lettuce wraps. While some peanut sauce recipes calls for fish sauce, this recipe is conveniently vegan, plant-based, and dairy free!

Three ingredients to make a peanut sauce
- Oat milk – used as a liquid to help develop the consistency of a dipping sauce. Substitute with water or your choice of dairy free milk. Add more oat milk if you prefer a more runny sauce.
- Hoisin Sauce – adds a sweet, savory, and tangy flavor to give it a more flavorful taste than just peanut butter!
- Peanut Butter – it wouldn’t be peanut sauce without peanut butter but if you’re allergic you can substitute with almond butter or try tahini for a nut free option
- optional toppings – garnish with fresh crushed peanuts, a squeeze of lime juice
