How to roll the perfect kimbap
Step 1. Place a piece of seaweed paper on top of a bamboo mat. The rough side of the kimbap should be facing up.

Step 2. Layer about 3/4 cup of rice on top of the seaweed paper leaving about an inch at the top and bottom. Spread the rice evenly so there is a thin even layer. The key is to not overstuff with rice.

Step 3. Add a few pieces of rice to the top of the seaweed paper. This will help the roll stick together.

Step 4. Cut a second piece of seaweed paper and place it on top of the rice with the textured side facing up with a little bit of rice sticking out of the bottom

Step 5. Place the kimbap filling on top of the seaweed paper. Cover the entire surface area of the seaweed paper. If you run out of space add the ingredients on top of each other.

Step 6. Roll the bamboo mat up and have the bottom of the roll meet the top of the filling. The first “roll” should go up to where the filling has stopped. If you are unable to get all your filling in the first roll that means you have overfilled.

Step 7. Once the first roll is complete firmly press against the roll with your hands to firm up the roll shape.

Step 8. Lift up the bamboo mat as you complete the second roll. Press against the roll with your hands to firm up the shape again.

Step 9. Slice the rolls into 1 inch thick pieces.
